THE ATLAS MOTH – Complete Work On New Album
Psychedelic sludge/progressive/post metal band THE ATLAS MOTH have completed their follow-up full-length to their 2009 heralded debut “A Glorified Piece Of Blue Sky”, entitled “An Ache For The Distance”.
Known as one of the hardest working young bands America’s heavy music scene today (THE ATLAS MOTH have done endless touring cycles since their inception in 2007 with such bands as Helmet, St. Vitus, Eyehategod, Harvey Milk, Coalesce, Kylesa, Nachtmystium, Zoroaster, and Dark Castle to name a few notable artists the Chicago-based unit have shared the stage with), “An Ache For The Distance” sees THE ATLAS MOTH create an even more distinct identity for themselves in heavy music. One in which is a formidable step up from their debut, one that is more focused, and one in which showcases a stronger emphasis on songwriting, song-structure, and overall presentation.
Known for their use of three guitars that counterpoint with a solid rhythm section touched up with tasteful synthesizer execution and most notably the dual vocal attack (piercing harsh vocals in dialogue with coarse clean vocals) which has become a band trademark, “An Ache For The Distance” is an album where bludgeoning epic heaviness shines through lush crawling glistening atmosphere; a combination that only THE ATLAS MOTH know how to execute in precise meticulous fashion.
Produced by guitarist/keyboardist Andrew Ragin and mastered/co-mixed by guitar legend James Murphy, and to officially be released on 9.20.11, tracklisting for “An Ache For The Distance” goes as follows:
1. Coffin Varnish
2. Perpetual Generations
3. Holes In The Desert
4. Gemini
5. An Ache For The Distance
