LOCRIAN & MAMIFFER – Complete Work On Collaboration
Two of the most prominent artists within the ambient/experimental music genre today, namely LOCRIAN and MAMIFFER, have completed work on their anticipated debut collaboration album. One that seemed inevitable to happen.
Entitled “Bless Them That Curse You”, the album is a meticulous observation and marriage of both bands’ signature styles, an experiment that grew from the initial idea where both bands thought it would be intriguing to see what would happen if they collaborated. From LOCRIAN’s harsh and ethereal drawn out vast soundscapes and MAMIFFER’s elegant chamber-like cinematic manifestations, “Bless Them That Curse You” is a carefully crafted experiment which grew into something that became a new experience for both bands, one where both bands would inevitably discover new musical ground and progression.
With both bands coming off recent releases, Chicago’s LOCRIAN made the impression in 2011 most-recently with their “Clearing” release and MAMIFFER (initially founded and masterminded by Faith Coloccia and now joined by partner Aaron Turner of Isis fame) releasing their “Mare Decendrii” earlier in 2011, “Bless Them That Curse You” (which was recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago and then mixed in Seattle by Randall Dunn) will serve its purpose as one of the most introspective and notable experimental/ambient/chamber music releases of the year.
To be officially released on March 6th 2012, tracklisting for “Bless Them That Curse You” goes as follows:
1. In Fulminic Blaze
2. Bless Them That Curse You
3. Corpus Luteum
4. Second Burial
5. Lechatelierite
6. Metis/Amaranthine/The Emperor
