LORD MANTIS – Complete Work On “Death Mask”
Chicago’s depraved and morally impaired doom noise band LORD MANTIS have finally completed work on their third full-length album “Death Mask”.
Taking it way beyond and further into depths of unfathomable darkness, brutality, perversion, and violence, “Death Mask” follows up the band’s “Pervertor” predecessor album and essentially ups the ante on pretty much everything the band have been known to spew forth.
Easily presenting itself as LORD MANTIS’ most advanced, musically accomplished and challenging album to date, “Death Mask” is a disturbing glimpse into a world of psychosis, anxiety, horror, and mental instability. Where sonically, more of a focus is set on creating an uncanny evil atmosphere more than ever, and where more experimentation comes to the forefront of the music through sampling, some use of electronics, more synth pulsating, and where a brooding yet pounding industrial influence also seeps its way into this sonic fisting orgy.
To be released April 29th, “Death Mask” was once again engineered and mixed by LORD MANTIS honorary member Sanford Parker (who claimed this was the bleakest album he’s ever worked on) who also provides some synth work, and also features a guest appearance by Will Lindsay of Indian along with guest vocals from Indian’s Dylan O’Toole (who provides the lead vocal assault and the lyrics on the track “Negative Birth”), who has always been like the fifth member of LORD MANTIS respectively. And of course the album is graced by the notorious artwork of Jef Whitehead of LEVIATHAN.
Tracklisting for “Death Mask” goes as follows:
1. Body Choke
2. Death Mask
3. Possession Prayer
4. You Will Gag For The Fix
5. Negative Birth
6. Coil
7. Three Crosses
