MAN’S GIN – Rebellion Hymns

"‘Cause radio station static bleeds lost love.”

A much darker and more adventurous musical jaunt than their “Smiling Dogs” debut, “Rebellion Hymns” brings down the heathen hammer through its epic odes to the bottle and wasteland America with music steeped in American goth and folklore.

Helmed by COBALT multi-instrumentalist Erik Wunder who is likewise joined by multi-instrumentalists Josh Lozano and Scott Edward, “Rebellion Hymns” reveals itself as the most ambitious and diverse work MAN’S GIN have manifested to date. Much more epic, varied, and heavier in scope, “Rebellion Hymns” covers a wide musical canvas through a discourse which consists of memorable moving emotionally draining songs interspersed with moments of experimental ambient creaking string-interplay and noise (see if you can spot a COBALT “Eater Of Birds” reference snuck in).

Recorded and produced by Andrew Schneider (Unsane, Pelican, Cave In, Converge etc.) at Translator Audio in Brooklyn, NY and featuring photography and layout by Jimmy Hubbard, “Rebellion Hymns” sees Wunder and co. even bring in a formidable cast of musicians to join the ride. Such musicians that make a guest appearance on “Rebellion Hymns” are Jarboe (ex-Swans), Bruce Lamont of YAKUZA, John LaMacchia of Candiria, and even Wunder’s co-conspirator in COBALT Philip McSorley makes an appearance likewise.
