WITCH MOUNTAIN

We are proud to announce that the latest addition to our repertoire is the Pacific Northwest’s long-running doom metal band, WITCH MOUNTAIN.

Formed in 1997, Portland’s original doom band helped forge a scene that is now legendary worldwide.  They released their now out-of-print debut album “…Come The Mountain” in 2001 and played continuously on the live circuit (between 1998 and 2003) alongside such respected bands as High On Fire, Clutch, Electric Wizard, Goatsnake, Acid King, Orange Goblin, Isis, YOB, and Agalloch.

Following 2003 WITCH MOUNTAIN laid mostly dormant, that is until 2009 when vocalist Uta Plotkin was enlisted to fill the void and make the band complete; her powerful and soulful searing vocals serving as the missing piece of the puzzle to help excel WITCH MOUNTAIN’s potential even further.  In Jan of 2010 WITCH MOUNTAIN would record their long-awaited follow-up to their debut.  Entitled “South Of Salem”, it was finally self-released by the band in April 2011 on vinyl only. The album garnered praise in such outlets as NPR, Decibel magazine, and the many respected doom metal blogs around the interwebs.  And the momentum would only pick up as WITCH MOUNTAIN had also contributed a track to the Adult Swim cartoon network’s METAL SWIM compilation amongst tracks by the likes of Boris, Torche, Isis, Kylesa, and Ludicra.

In early 2012 Profound Lore will issue “South Of Salem” on CD in a limited run as the band will be preparing to enter the studio in the Spring to record with legendary producer Billy Anderson.  The band’s third full-length will be released via Profound Lore in the Summer respectively.  Imminent touring plans (for Europe and North America) will also be in the works, respectively.
